Christmas always brings out my crafty, evil, devious... I mean crafty, creative, artistic side. So that, coupled with my love of internet has moved me to create an inspiration post, things that I think are awesome and get my mind working. This will probably be one of many, as I have a million links in my "favorites" folder and a zillion blogs and sites I follow and explore with varying degrees of regularity.

So today's post is wreaths, I'm sorry, I didn't think to keep track of where they're from, a ton of beautiful, talented and creative people on the interwebs, for sure, but other than that I've forgotten.

A new flash game to keep you busy

the above game is a simple, addictive flash game. The goal is to drench the game board in one solid colour. You click the circles of colour to the right hand side of the game board to match the colour in the top left hand corner with it's neighbours. This will create a growing block of colour that (hopefully) will take over the board. Play with it and you'll see what I mean. good luck!

so, tonight my cat sat on by bare legs and I felt something wet. "Andy," I say, "I feel something wet from this cat's but-ular area". The cat moves and makes a new wet spot. I look down and see a small discoloured area of wetness on my leg. "anal secretions?" asks andy, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. "I guess so" I say and pick up the cat to wash it's ass and my legs. The room starts to smell. We decided it must have been a wet fart. That's just life with cats I guess. oh, the never ending joy.

Toasters! I think I own 2, both in storage, neither of them work particularly well. Toasters are a household staple, and have been for years. Some folks think they're due for an update, or some new fancy acessories. What do you think? I think Andy would be launching toast at me for the rest of my life if he knew about the trebuchet toaster, and I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with that AND the nerf darts.

There are some projects you can only do in the summer, either outside or with all your windows wide open. This is one of them, because of the potential hazard of heating plastic bags. I've seen lots of cool things done with this technique, and I should totally make a waterproof lining for a knit gym bag. Or a felted lunch bag? Or a crochet tote for my winter boots? Maybe place mats when I get an actual table? Or backing for a picnic blanket? Or makeup bag? So many possibilities!

Maybe you are lactose intolerant, in which case I pity you for lacking the ability to be completely happy, but cheese is still the perfect food. I love things that are hand made. I like the fact that you know where the item comes from, who made it, and how. I like that there's meaning and memories associated with it, and that someone has put love and effort into producing something special with you in mind. That's why I always plan to make the presents I give people. It rarely pans out: I'm too flaky and leave everything too late, but I always have a pile of projects on the go and a list as long as my arm of things to make or try. I love, love, love linen stitch. It looks equally awesome on both sides and creates a warm dense fabric that works well with both solid coloured yarns and the beautiful colourways that you can't resist when your in the store but have no idea what to do with once you get them home (noro, I'm talking to you!). So this is a great scarf pattern for using up all those odd balls and part balls of whatever you've got.

I haven't always liked tomatoes. Sure they taste good, but when I was little I couldn't handle the sliminess of the seeds. Even if I couldn't feel them, I knew they were there. Mocking me. Now that I'm all grown up and can do what I want I just remove the seeds! Problem solved! So I'm enjoying exploring tomatoes in ways I couldn't when I was little. A perfect example is bruschetta. I love it. I order it in restaurants whenever I get the chance and ogle the small tubs in specialty stores. I like it fresh, uncooked and garlicky. mmmmm. So when I came across this recipe I thought, that's easy! I can do that! So maybe I will. Or maybe you will. Or maybe no one will and it will be a mystery for the ages but now the link's posted here for posterity either way.

Question:What's malt? like malted milk or malt vinager. I didn't know, so i decided to find out! The following text is completely copied and pasted, mostly from wikkipedia.

Answer: Malting is the controlled germination of cereals, followed by a termination of this natural process by the application of heat. Malted grain is used to make beer, whisky, and malt vinegar. Malted milk is a powdered food product made from a mixture of malted barley, wheat flour, and whole milk, which are evaporated until it forms a powder.

Yay! I'm planning to stencil things. I plan to start with the above stencils ( and many others), and stencil them in paint on shirts and storage bins, use glass etching media to make awesome glasses, vases, and mirrors, cut them out of awesome paper for decoupage binder and book covers, cut them out of fabric for appliques or quilts, knit or embroidered into pillows, scarves wall hangings, bags... THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!!!!

I've been absorbed with work and knitting lately. I'm sorry for my lack of blog. I plan to update more frequently from now on. for real this time.

I was almost done an entire blog on strange things you can buy on the internet when blogger went down and I lost the whole thing. I would have posted it sooner, but andy rebuilt his computer and all the pictures were deleted. so after 2 failed attempts, I've decided that the world just isn't meant to see the deformed apple that looks like a face, the ashes from a tree that burned down outide Paris Hilton's house or the small gator head that has been made into a necklace.

(You may be interested to note that the date for this blog is aug 7. that's when i started the G.D. thing. It's actually sept 4 today).
